AFC Portchester 2 Baffins Milton Rovers 2

This game was marked by goal drama at the end of each half with the Royals snatching a point with the very last kick of the match.

There was little between the two sides in this local derby and there were few clear cut chances for either team as they both battled for supremacy and bragging rights.

After 11 minutes Blu Boam dragged his shot wide for the visitors and at the other end Lee Wort drilled his low shot straight at keeper Charlie Searle.

Boam then had another half chance but lost his footing as he shaped to shoot and the Portchester defence cleared the danger. Wort then tried to hook home a corner at the far post after 37 minutes but the ball dropped narrowly wide.

The home side took the lead on 43 minutes when Barry Mason got clear down the right and his cross beat Charlie Searle and Callum Laycock was in the right place to turn the ball home.

However, Portchester’s lead lasted only a minute when a low shot went under the defender’s foot, hit the post and Boam was on hand to turn home the rebound.

The second half proved to be a tense affair with both sides trying to gain the lead. On 73 minutes Wort received the ball on the right, cut inside the box but his shot was cleared off the line.

Two minutes later Oscar Johnston picked up the ball on the edge of the box but his shot was deflected wide. Wort then had another effort blocked by Charlie Searle and Johnston skied the rebound well over the top.

With four minutes remaining Baffins thought they had secured the three points when Jamie White headed a corner from the right towards goal. Keeper Cameron Scott dived but completely missed the ball and it bounced into the net.

However, the Royals equalised two minutes into injury time from a corner on the right. Scott was sent into the box and his presence confused the visiting defence enough for Craig Hardy to steal in and guide the ball home from close range.

As soon as the ball hit the back of the net the referee blew the full time whistle.
