AFC Portchester is helping to lead the community’s response to the coronavirus crisis in Portchester.
The football club is leading efforts to ensure vulnerable residents receive the assistance they need with the setting up of the AFC Portchester Covid-19 Mutual Support Group.
The aims of the group are to bring volunteers from the community together so they can offer people general assistance with things like shopping, dog walking, running errands and other requests for help.
The football club’s Crest Finance Stadium home will also be acting as a collection point for donations, with food, hygiene products and pet food all currently needed - which will be re-distributed to those who need it in the community.
Other plans the support group are currently looking at include the provision of hot meals and food which can be delivered from the club’s kitchen and an online donation page for funds which will be used both by the project and re-distributed to those who need help in the community.
Already £1,250 has been donated to the cause and food donations have been received from businesses in the area, including The Seagull in Portchester.
At this stage there are a number of ways in which you can support the work of the group and volunteer your help.
