AFC Portchester return to The OnSite Group Stadium under the lights this evening as they look to build on Saturday’s morale boosting 2-0 victory over Ascot United.
That win, sealed by a Lee Wort double, ended a difficult run of results and gave the Royals three valuable points along with a first clean sheet in three games.
It was also another milestone moment for Wort, who moved on to 92 goals for the club and is now closing in on AFC Portchester’s all-time scoring record.
Manager Gav Spurway will be hoping his side can carry Saturday’s momentum into tonight’s clash against Hendon, who make the trip south following a 1–0 win over Horndean at the weekend.
The visitors currently sit 15th in the table with three wins, four draws and three defeats from their opening ten games.
Portchester are 18th after four wins and six losses, but with confidence restored after Saturday’s solid all round display, they will be eager to climb further up the standings.
Defensively, Portchester looked far more assured last time out, keeping Ascot at bay and limiting their chances throughout the match. A repeat performance will be key against a Hendon side known for being well organised and difficult to break down.
With Wort in fine form and Alfie Stanley continuing to link play effectively in attack, the Royals will be keen to extend their winning form on home soil.
Expect another competitive encounter under the lights as Portchester aim to make it back-to-back league victories and continue their climb up the Isthmian South Central table.
