The 2025-26 season kicked off in style at The OnSite Group Stadium when sunshine and the crowds were out in force for the Sophie’s Legacy Charity Match.
Early morning rain and clouds cleared to bring bright sunshine throughout the event – and plenty of former Premier League and Pompey stars were shining out on the pitch too.
FA Cup winner Hermann Hreidarsson, part of the Portsmouth side which won the world famous trophy at Wembley in 2008, was part of the Pompey Charity Squad.
And those in Royal Blue went up against a Premier League Allstars side which included the likes of Premier League and Champions League winner Wes Brown, former England international Carlton Palmer, and Southampton star Matt Le Tissier – who shared some good natured banter with the crowd throughout.
The event was staged to raise funds for Sophie’s Legacy – a charity which provides support for families whose children are in hospital and aims to fund training and research into childhood cancer.
