AFC Portchester and Gloucester City know the reward that awaits the victor of tonight’s First Qualifying Round replay in the Emirates FA Cup.
The draw for the next round was made yesterday lunchtime and the winners of this evening’s tie at The OnSite Group Stadium will face National League South outfit Chippenham Town at home.
However, the focus of both sides will undoubtedly be firmly on winning the replay before any thoughts or dreams of an FA Cup run will be allowed to manifest themselves.
The two sides could not be separated in the wind and rain at Gloucester on Saturday but despite the abysmal weather conditions a high standard of play was maintained throughout.
More rain is expected throughout today on the south coast but the forecasters are predicting a clear evening once the showers clear away.
The Royals will be looking to extend their unbeaten record in First Qualifying Round matches after Saturday’s result took that run to five cup ties without defeat at this stage of the competition.
Gloucester City haven’t lost a First Qualifying Round tie since 2008 but this is only the second time they have entered the FA Cup at this stage of the competition since that 5-3 defeat at Chalfont St Peter.
