AFC Portchester were beaten 3-1 in their pre-season visit to National League South new boys AFC Totton.
The home side’s quality told overall during the 90 minutes in a match which was played on an immaculate pitch at the Snows Stadium and the Royals were given a tough work out by their hosts.
Totton had to wait until the final moments of the first half to take the lead before they doubled their lead early in the second half.
However, the Royals kept working hard throughout and their efforts were rewarded when they seized on a defensive mistake and Alfie Stanley tucked home a low ball played across the box.
The home side ensured victory would go to them when they added a third goal in the final quarter of the game.
