Footballers often welcome the chance to quickly get a disappointing result out of their systems and the Royals get the chance to do just that on Bank Holiday Monday.

AFC Portchester have a quick turnaround following their defeat at Bedfont Sports on Saturday – less than 48 hours after the final whistle in that game comes their next encounter in the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division.

Moneyfields are the visitors to The OnSite Group Stadium and it will give the men in orange the chance to put Saturday’s trip behind them quickly and try to get back to winning ways.

Portchester’s second defeat in their opening three league games has left them in 14th place in the table, five places and one point behind their visitors on Monday afternoon.

Moneys had to settle for a point in their league game on Saturday when they drew 4-4 at home against Hayes and Yeading.

The stats suggest we could be treated to another high scoring match this afternoon – although both sides will be keen to not see more additions to their respective goals against columns.

The Royals have let in nine goals in their three league games to date, while Moneyfields have shipped eight goals so far in their league campaign.

Both though know where the net is at the other end of the pitch with seven goals scored apiece in the opening weeks of the league season.

Moneyfields have enjoyed success in their league trips to Portchester in recent times as they are unbeaten in their last three visits to The OnSite Group Stadium.

The two sides drew 2-2 in February 2024, and Moneys inflicted a 3-2 defeat on the Royals in March 2023 as Portchester led the way in the Wessex Premier Division, only to go on and finish fourth on the final day of that season. In March 2022 the two sides shared a 1-1 draw.

Portchester ran out 2-1 winners in the most recent encounter between the two sides – the Preliminary Round FA Cup tie at Moneyfields just nine days ago.

It was a tight game with not much between the two sides on August 16 – what price a similar type of game plays itself out on Bank Holiday Monday?
