AFC Portchester are aiming to become the first club for 21 years to complete the league and cup double in the Wessex League.

The Royals face a re-run of last year’s final in the 2025 Velocity Wessex League Cup final when they take on Hamble Club at The OnSite Group Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5 – kick off 3pm.

No one since Winchester City did the Wessex Premier Division and League Cup double in 2004 has repeated that feat and only two other sides have done the double in Wessex League history – Andover in 2002 and Wimborne Town achieved this honour twice – in 2000 and 1994.

So in a season where plenty of history has been made already and new records set by the Royals, the Wessex double would be a title Gav Spurway’s side would dearly love to add to those already achieved during the current 2024-25 campaign.

However, Hamble will be looking to retain the trophy they won last year when goals from Braydon Douglas and Clayd Roach earned them a 2-0 victory in front of a crowd of 645 spectators.

Hamble have had a strong 2024-25 campaign, finishing fourth in the Premier Division and earning a place in the end of season promotion play-offs.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for the Velocity Wessex League Cup final. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, £4 for over-65s and under-18s and a family ticket is available for £10 (includes entry for one adult and up to two children).
